Musings from InitialView's Founders
In the fifteen year history of our organization, we have interacted with hundreds of thousands of students in over 100 countries who are applying to the next step in their lives.
We interact with more students from more countries than anyone else in the world. So many interesting stories!
One of the very best parts of InitialView—the company I run with my wife—is that we are involved with students and their stories. On a daily basis we are surprised, moved, and educated by the stories that students tell our interviewers or insert into their Glimpses. At the same time, we interact with admissions officers at colleges who tell us about their challenges and how their process really works.
For years, these stories and words of advice have remained in our home office, around the dinner table, or in industry presentations. We’ve decided to launch this blog to more systematically record these thoughts for those who might be interested.
This blog will touch on many topics—applying to college, how admissions offices work, the “secrets” of “success”, the US and its place in the world, higher education, etc. As parents, we also see our own high school-age kids going through these processes, so we get to try out (and suffer from) our own theories on how to help teenagers become productive young adults.
Please consider subscribing—and in addition to reading, providing us with your thoughts! After all, life is not a test—it’s a conversation!
